He studied architecture four years (1854-8) at the Royal Academy in Berlin, later traveled on the Continent.
For a time Mr. Himpler practiced in Atchison, Kansas, and there designed the Romanesque Abbey of St. Benedict. During later years in New York he is said to have planned a number of churches including Our Lady of Grace, and Academy of the Sacred Heart at Hoboken, N. J.; Church of S. S. Peter and Paul, St. Louis; St. Francis de Sales, Cincinnati; St. Anne's, Buffalo, N. Y.; and St. Alphonso, New York City.
