Entered Colonial Civil Service as Cadet, 1884. Remained in Fiji until 1892. Was then named District Commissioner for Lagos.
Resident of Ibadan, 1897.
Assistant Secretary to the Government of Malta, 1902. Chief Commissioner of Ashanti, 1905.
