Assistant professor mathematics, 1894-1899, professor, 1899-1907, professor mathematics and astronomy, 1907-1915, dean department Physics and Engineering, 1907-1908, dean Department Engineering and Mathematics, 1907-1912, University of South Carolina. Resumed practice, June 1915, then at Beaufort, South Carolina. Also planter. Was commissioner of company schools of Charleston Company, South Carolina., and commissioner public schools of Charleston, rearganizing same.

Vice president National Rivers and Harbors Congress. Member Good Roads Congress, Washington, District of Columbia, 1911 (commission on organization).
