COWPER, Frank Cadogran was born on October 16, 1877 in Wicken, Northamptonshire. Son of Frank Cowper, Master of Arts Oxfordshire., and Edith, daughter of late Reverend Edward Cadogan.

Studied at Cranleigh School. Commenced art training at St. John’s Wood Art School, 1896. Royal Academy Schools, 1897-1902.
Worked six months as assistant in studio of E. A. Abbey, R.A. First went to Italy, 1903. Exhibited first at Royal Academy, 1899, and each succeeding year, except 1908 and 1910.
Also as an associate exhibits regularly at the Royal Watercolour Society, at principal provincial Galleries, and has exhibited at the Paris Salon. Has done some illustrating work. Principal paintings: An Aristocrat Answering to the Summons to Execution in the French Revolution, 1901 (City Art Gallery, Leeds).
