Dutnall was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. Dutnall made his first-class debut for Kent against Middlesex in the 1919 County Championship at Mote Park, Maidstone. He made three further first-class appearances for Kent in the 1920 County Championship against Warwickshire, Hampshire, and Leicestershire.
He scored a total of 26 runs at an average of 5.20, with a high score of 16.
He died at Burnley, Lancashire on 24 October 1971.
