After 1889 when he entered the Boston office as a Construction Engineer. Some years later, following the death of Charles Wentworth, senior member of the organization in 1897, Mr. Ferguson succeeded him as General Manager of the office, an arrangement that remained in effect until Bertram Goodhue was taken into the firm. In later years each partner was independently responsible for specific buildings, although commissions were executed under the firm name.
During his long connection with the firm Mr. Ferguson designed wholly or in part, a number of notable buildings, including the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, N. Y., 1903; Library at Williams College, Williams town, Mass., 1920, and buildings at Rice Institute, Houston, Texas. He was also connected with work at Princeton University and other colleges.
