Frank Xavier Filan was an Associated Press photographers and one of the winners of the 1944 Pulitzer Prize for Photography.
Frank Filan was born on December 7, 1905 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. His brother, Harold Filan, was a photojournalist with Associated Press.
Frank Filan began his career with the Los Angeles Times. He also worked for Associated Press, from 1930 until his death, serving three years in the Pacific as a war photographer. During this time he made sixteen amphibious landings.
