Joined National Guard of California, 1884. Recruited regiment for Spanish-American War, but was sent on special mission around the world as confidential representative of President of the United States. Later served in Question Manager Department of the Army.
Engaged in handling general government supplies. With John A. Bensel, engineer, 1906-1916. Made study of engineering.
Assisted in organization Plattsburg training camps. Purchased supplies for French, English and Belgians in earlier years of World War, also assisted in organization for American defense. Actively identified with construction of ships and loading plants on Eastern Seaboard, after United States entered World War.
Name carried on confidential list of War Department under rank of colonel. Connected with bridge building on Pacific Coast in California since 1923. Engineer for Chelsea docks and canals for State of New York.
