Howd, Lavieri & Finch, Limited Liability Partnership traces its history back to 1920 when Hadleigh H. Howd opened a law office on Main Street in Winsted shortly after his graduation from Yale Law School.
He was the senior member of the firm for more than fifty years and was fondly known throughout the area as "Judge Howd," a title recognizing his many years of service as Trial Justice in the Winchester Municipal Court. Carmine R. Lavieri, past President of the Connecticut Bar Association and the New England Bar Association joined the firm shortly after his graduation from the University of Connecticut following World World War II and continued as a partner until his death in 1984.
Frank H. Finch, Junior joined the firm in 1959 following his graduation from Harvard Law School and continues to practice actively as the senior member of the firm. Today the firm consists of five attorneys and a highly dedicated support staff of ten.
