Brumby, Frank Hardeman was born on September 11, 1874 in Athens, Georgia, United States. Son of John Wallis and Arabella (Hardeman) Brumby.
Graduated from the United States Naval Academy, 1895.
Commissioned ensign United States Navy, July 1, 1897. Promoted through grades to rear admiral September 8, 1927, vice admiral in command of Scouting Force, May 1933-June 1934. Admiral in command of Battle force June 15, 1934 to April 1, 1935.
Retired October 1, 1938.
