Biggar and Parnell in general policy, until foundation of Land League, which he persistently opposed. Organised along with Alexander MacDonald, Member of Parliament, the opposition to Flogging in the Army, which produced its abolition in 1879. Founded the Farmers’ Alliance, 1879.
Founded the Indian Constitutional Association, 1882. Quitted Irish Parliamentary Politics, 1885. Co-founder of the National Democratic League, 1899.
