FOWKE, Frank Rede was born on March 17, 1847. 2nd son of Captain Francis Fowke, R.E., and Louisa Charlotte, daughter of Reverend Robert Rede Rede.

After serving temporarily on the Department of Science and Art, joined its permanent staff, 1868. Secretary of the Committee on Solar Physics. Late Assistant Secretary, Board of Education.
