Frank Saltus Gardner, American state transportation and trade administrator. Decorated Chevalier Royal Order of the Savior by King George of Greece, 1895. Drafted law of New York, 1885, creating New York State Forest Commission (the second State forest commission in the United States); drafted provision of New York State Constitution relating to forest preserve, 1894, etc. Member 7th Regiment, New York.S.N.G., 1870-1877.

Career

In mercantile business until 1876. Assistant secretary and secretary New York Board of Trade and Transportation, since 1877, also honorary vice president (office created for him alone). Executive Committee New York State Waterways Association (1st secretary).

Director and secretary Canal Association of Greater New York, 1902-1912. Secretary Anti-monopoly League, New York, 1879-1883, Union for Improvement of Canals, New York, 1885-1892, New York State Commerce Convention, 1899-1903 inclusive, New York State Committee on Canal Referendum, 1915, etc.
