He studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1897 with a B.S. degree, later did post-graduate work at the University for two years.
In acquiring practical experience Mr. Edmunds served as draftsman in successive periods with architects Guy King, D. K. Boyd, George W. and William Hewitt. In 1906 he was appointed Assistant-Superintendent of the Philadelphia Board of Education and in that capacity was connected with the planning of a number of schools, some of which were built in the city suburbs. While he continued to specialize in educational buildings, he also designed many fine urban and country homes, and at one time was appointed Associate Architect on the Lehigh Avenue and Manayhunk branches of the Philadelphia Free Public Library.
He had been a member of the Philadelphia Chapter, A.I.A. since 1918, and during his long career was active in both professional and civic affairs.
