He acquired an early training in draftsmanship while employed successively with the firms of Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge, and Parker, Thomas & Rice. Later he made several trips to Europe, studying as he traveled in France, Italy, Spain, Germany and England.
Starting practice in Boston in 1910 he was associated in partnership with Arthur E. French until the latter’s death in 1929, and during the remainder of his years continued work under the firm name. Among his chief works were buildings in many New England cities, of which should be mentioned the Public Library at Kennebunkport, Maine, 1910; Manufacturers' National Bank, Lewiston, Maine; Amoskeag Savings Bank at Manchester, N. H., 1913. High School, Kennebunk, Maine, 1921: Mary E. Hunt Home for Aged Women, Nashua, N.
