Career
At the age of 16, he dropped his education in Gelehrtenschule des Johanneums and attended the painting school of Arthur Siebelist. In his life, he was associated, amongst others, with artists like Edvard Munch, Emil Nolde, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Henri Matisse. Drafted to the army, he died on the French front a week before the end of World War I, aged 34.
