First lieutenant 46th United States Infantry, August 17, 1899. Honorary mustered out, June 30, 1901. First lieutenant Artillery Corps, August 22, 1901.

Promoted through grades to colonel, September 27, 1925. Major general chief of field artillery, December 20, 1927. Colonel N.A., August 5, 1917.

Brigadier general N.A., April 18, 1918. Director Artillery School, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, 1920. Later in inspector gens. department.
