Research participant Oak Ridge (Tennessee) National Laboratory First lieutenant and captain, engineers, and major Chemical Warfare Svc., United States Army, 1917-1919, with American Expeditionary Forces, France, and Army of Occupation, Germany. Participated in Somme, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives.

War gas consultant and director Civilian Defense Schools, Tennessee, 1942-1945.
