Riefkohl, Frederic Luis was born on February 27, 1889 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico. Son of Luis and Julia (Jamieson) R. (brought to the United States, 1899).


Educated Arroyo, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Concord and Andover, Massachusetts. Bachelor of Science, United States Naval Academy (1st midshipman appointed from Puerto Rico), 1911. Graduated from Nava War Colonel, 1934.


Commissioned ensign United States Navy, 1912, and advanced through grades to rear admiral, 1947. Commanding officer, United States Ship Vincennes, Guadalcanal campaign, 1942. Various duties at sea and shore stations during naval career.

Retired from active service, January 1, 1947.


Member of the United States Naval Institute. Clubs: Army Navy (Washington).
