Stevens, Frederic William was born on June 9, 1846 in Hoboken, New Jersey, United States. Son of James Alexander and Julia (Beasley) Stevens.

A.M., Columbia, 1864 (Doctor of Laws, 1908).

Career

Admitted as attorney New Jersey bar, 1868, counselor, 1871. Judge 2d Court of Newark, New Jersey, 1873-1875. County counsel, Essex Company, 1889-1892.

Appointed vice chancellor, New Jersey, April 14, 1896, reapptd. 1903, 1910 and 1917. An arbitrator, with Judge Dillon in settlement of back taxes of D.,L.&W. Railroad Company.
