Went to Italy at the age of eighteen, and entered the Benedictine monastery at Subiaco with the intention of becoming a monk. Failure of health after two years obliged him to return home. Stayed a short time in Dublin, and went to West Australia, where he conducted the Catholic School of Perth.
From West he went to South Australia, and entered the Jesuit College at Sevenhill.
Ordained Adelaide, 1860. Foreign four years did parochial duty in that city, and was then sent to do pioneer work in the outlying districts.
Sacræ Theologiæ Doctor by Brief, 18S0. Became Administrator of the Archdiocese, 1893.
Created Urban Prelate by Brief, 1902. Vicar-General of Adelaide, South America, since 1874.
