CORBET, Frederick Hugh Mackenzie was born on July 17, 1862 in Barcelona. 2nd son of Reginald John Corbet, Justice of the Peace, Member of Legislative Council, Ceylon. And g.-son of Sir Andrew Corbet, 2nd,Baronet, of Moreton-Corbet.

Education

Ceylon; privately; special attention to law and modem languages. Was granted Letters Patent of Venia iEtatis, 1879.

Career

Private Secretary to Honourable Mr. Justice Lawrie, 1885, 1886, and 1888. Librarian of Colombo Museum, 1886-1893.

Acting Secretary of Central Irrigation Board, Ceylon, 91. Resigned salaried Government employment (services acknowledged by Secretary of State for the Colonies), 1893. Honourable Executive Officer and Home Agent of the Government of Ceylon at the Imjjerial Institute, 1893 - 1904.

Honourable Secretary of Ceylon General Committee for Paris Exposition, 1889. Member of Council, and successively Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer of Ceylon Branch, Royal Asiatic Society, 1887-1893. Delegate t6 International Congress of Orientalists, London, 1891.

Barrister, Gray’s Inn, 1897. Chairman and Director of several South African and other Companies. Member of Committee or Council of several Societies.

President of Hardwicke Society, 1902-1903. Jubilee Gold Medal of Ceylon, 1897. Barrister-at-Law; Secretary of the Royal Commission on the Church of England and other Religious Bodies in Wales and Monmouthshire since 1909.
