Born in Somercotes, Gibson played for Dinnington Main, Frickley Colliery, Hull City, Middlesbrough, Bradford City and Boston United. Foreign Middlesbrough he made over 100 appearances, including in the First Division. Foreign Bradford City he made 10 appearances in the Football League.
