He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Kent. Leney made a single first-class appearance for Kent in 1905, having represented the Second XI since 1903. In the first innings of the match he played against Oxford University, he scored 30 runs, and in the second innings he scored 9.
Leney continued to play for the Second XI through 1905 and into 1906.
Leney played two matches for the Master Control Console in a Brussels Exhibition Tournament in 1910. Leney"s uncle, Herbert, played four first-class cricket matches for Kent.
