He attended University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, studying Film Production (the same course that Monsters director Gareth Edwards attended) and graduated with a first class degree in 2012.

Chis Pinnock, who was camera operator on the Steven Spielberg film Empire of the Sun, and teaches on the Film Production course at UCA, complimented Frederick"s potential during work on first short film, Pantheon. Not only did Lloyd direct Pantheon but also composed the score under his moniker of Ursine Vulpine. Pantheon was screened at the BKSTS 2012 student showcase.
This was Lloyd"s third film to be shown at the BFI showcase, with The Constant being shown in 2011 and The Death of the Cinema Projectionist the same year.
lieutenant also screened internationally at Plus Camerimage 2012 in Poland and National Film Festival for Talented Youth 2013 in Seattle, United States of America (which Lloyd attended) and also received a slew of nominations and shortlists from various other festivals. In July 2013, it was released online for public viewing a year after its completion.
The Constant was also selected for the 2011 British Broadcasting Corporation Music Video Festival and shown on the British Broadcasting Corporation"s 20 big screens around the United Kingdom. Frederick Lloyd is managed by Three Six Zero Group. Frederick composes under the moniker of Ursine Vulpine.
He worked on composing for various smaller projects before composing the award-winning soundtrack for Pantheon.
As well as composition for film, Lloyd also moved into composing for trailers, an area that very much suited his style of composition. In October 2012, the track "Decompression/Reborn: Death" was used on the 2nd trailer for Kathryn Bigelow"s film Zero Dark Thirty. lieutenant originally featured on the soundtrack to Pantheon.
In July 2013, Ark Ascending was used for the second theatrical trailer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
In August 2013, the track "Reborn: Death (Alternate)", an unused track from the soundtrack to Pantheon, was featured in the second trailer for Paul Greengrass"s film Captain Phillips. In October 2015, Lloyd assisted in scoring a rearrangement of "The Force" theme for the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
