MONK, Frederick Debartzch was born on April 6, 1856 in Montreal. 4th son of late Honourable Samuel Cornwallis Monk, a Judge of the Court of Queen’s Bench for the Province of Quebec, and Rosalie Caroline Debartzch. Father of English descent (Devonshire).
Mother French descent. Settled in New France under the French regime.

Career
Called to Bar, 1878; Queen’s Counsel, 1893. Has been twelve years a School Commissioner for the City of Montreal. A Roman Catholic; Opposition Leader for Province of Quebec in House of Commons, 1901.
Conservative.; Professor of Constitutional Law in Montreal Branch of Laval University. King’s Counsel, D. Commander of Order of Leopold, Member of Parliament Jacques-Cartier since 1896.
