Elected bishop of Wyoming, 1907, but declined. Elected February 13, 1908, consecrated, May 20, 1908, bishop of Georgia Republican from province of Sewanee, National Council of Protestant Episcopal Church, 1920-1932.

Trustee University of the South. Chaplain Georgia Society Colonial Wars.

Member Georgia State Committee on Interracial Coöperation.
