AFLALO, Frederick George was born on August 17, 1870 in London.

Education

Studied at Clifton College. Rostock University, Mecklenburg. In 1891 studied in Italy.

Career

Founded the British Sea Anglers’ Society (now over 1000 strong), 1893. Travelled in Australia, particularly in Queensland, 1895, and in Morocco and the Atlas, 1899. Visited every important fishing port on the English coast from Berwick - on-Tweed round to the Solway Firth, 1903.

Madeira and Porto Santo, 1905.

Florida and West Indies, 1906. California and Canada, 190S.

Near East, Holy Land and Caucasus, 1909. Cape Bretin Island and Nova Scotia, 1910.

Editor of the Encyclopaedia of Sport, the Angler’s Library, The Cost of Sport, the Young Naturalists’ Library, Sport in Europe, Sports of the World, The Sportsman’s Handbook for India. Half a Century of Sport in Hampshire. Fishermen’s Weather; The Call of the Sea (a prose anthology).
