Edinburgh University, Bachelor of Laws 1886. Honourable Doctor of Laws Aberdeen, 1906.

Scottish Bar, 1886.

Career

Lecturer in Roman Law, Glasgow University. Legal Secretary to Lord Advocate (Right Honourable J. B. Balfour), 1894. Dean of the Faculty of Law.

And Professor of Roman Law, McGill University, Montreal, since 1897.
