She lived in the United States of America until she was 13, then moved to Japan for approximately 10 years, where in the mid-1990s she started using the stage name Rin Kozue (こずえ 鈴, Kozue Rin) and performed as a model on several late shows on television Her brother, Joshua, was a model, married to Japanese singer and actress Anna Tsuchiya, but he died of heart failure in Tokyo at the age of 25 on May 20, 2008. In 2005, Kozue moved to California with American musician Benji Madden of the band Good Charlotte. In 2006, Niimura admitted that they had broken up.
