Appointed chaplain Dragoon Regiment of Brunswick Auxiliaries hired by British Crown to suppress rebellious American colonies, 1776. Wounded and captured at Battle of Bennington, 1777. Pastor of 5 small Lutheran chs., Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, 1779-1783.

Pastor, Manheim, Pennsylvania, 1784-1786. Professor Greek, Latin and German, Franklin College, 1786-1787, worked to keep college in existence, 1787-1789. Pastor St. Matthew’s, Hanover, Pennsylvania, 1789-1814.
