Graduated Riga University.

Career

1929-1938 Head, Rainis Museum. 1939-1941 Editor, Latvia paper “Darbs”, and Editor, Script Department, Riga Film Studios. Director of Literature, State Children’s and Youth Theater.

In 1930's joined Latvia left-wing movement and wrote illegal works. During World War II in USSR. At one time Secretary, Latvia Union of Writers.
