Fujiwara no Arikini was the son of Sukemichi. He was born in 943.
He was appointed Kurddo-no-kami (Chief of General Affairs). Although he was removed from the post on a certain charge, he was appointed Governor of Dazaifu in Kyushu after he won the confidence of Michinaga Fujiwara, who was Kampaku (Adviser to the Emperor). He was later made a Councillor in the Kyoto Court.
