Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu, the son of Uchimaro, was born in 755.
Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu was appointed Kurddo-no-kami (Chief of General Affairs), having been much trusted by Emperor Saga. He took part in legislation of the Konin-Kyaku (code of Konin Era) and the Dairi-shiki (code of the Imperial court). In 850 he was accorded the title of Dajo Daijin (Prime Minister) posthumously. He was commonly called Kan-in Sadaijm. He restored the Fujiwara family to its former prosperity.
His son, Yoshifusa, married an Imperial princess and his daughter became a Court lady and was favored by Emperor Nimmyo. She gave birth to Emperor Seiwa.
