Fujiwara no Kinmune was born in 1310. The son of Sanehira, Minister of the Imperial Household.

Career
Appointed Gon Dainagon (Vice-Minister) in 1330. Since his ancestor Kintsune Saionji assisted the Kamakura Shogunate in the Jokyu Civil War, his family was influential because of its close connection with the Hojos. After the restoration of the Imperial regime in the Kemmu Era (1334) he, in collusion with Tokiyuki Hojo, attempted to revive the Shogunate by assasinating Emperor Godaigo. The plot was exposed and he was captured. When he left Kyoto for Izumo CShimane Prefecture) as an exile, he was beheaded by Nagatoshi Nawa.
