Background
Fujiwara no Kinsue was born in 957. The son of Morosuke, Minister of the Right, he originated the Kan-in family. Orphaned, he was brought up in the Court by his elder sister, who was the consort of Emperor Murakami.

Career
The emperor favored and treated him as if he were the Crown Prince. He was appointed Minister of the Right and tutor to the Crown Prince in 1017. In 1021 he was appointed Dajo Dai jin (Prime Minister). People called him Kan-in Dajo Daijm.
