Fuku Yokoyama practiced as a midwife and became member of Itabashi Ward Assembly and chief director of Sampu Kaikan (Hall of Midwives) Institute. She was a president of Nihon Josanfukai (Japan Midwives Association). Elected to House of Councilors (since 1953).
