Fukuzawa Sutejiro graduated from Keio University and studied civil engineering in the United States (Boston University).
After returning home, Momosuke became an engineer of the Sanyo Railway Co. After his father died, he succeeded him as president of the Jtji Shimpo newspaper and made it one of the most popular dailies in Japan. Giving more space to general news, pictures and cartoons than other papers, it appealed to the masses.
