Career
She died at the age of 31 after a turbulent life and a great struggle against breast cancer — all recorded in her poetry. There are memorials to her at the Tokachi Gokoku Shrine, beside the Obihiro Shrine, and behind the Obihiro Centennial Memorial Hall.
