Fumitaro Watanabe graduated from Nagasaki Higher Commercial School in 1933.
Fumitaro Watanabe entered Mitsui Bussan Kaisha (Mitsui & Company) and served at its Moji Branch, and then turned chief of Iwakuni Business Office in 1946. With dissolution of the above company, under a postwar directive, was transferred to Nihon Jitsugyo (Business) Company as chief of its Materials Section (1947) and became its director (since 1951).
