Funada Naka graduated from Tokyo University.
Because of his background as local government official is well versed in local administration. Funada Naka was assistant mayor of Tokyo City and there-after received appointment as Director of Legislation Bureau of first Konoe Cabinet (1938). Then he was elected eight times to House of Representatives. During war was member of Central Cooperative Council of Imperial Rule Assistance Association and because of that background was purged after war from Government service. After being depurged joined Liberal Party; has always been antagonistic to Hatoyama faction. Is well acquainted with local finances and election affairs. He also serves as counselor of Nippon Broadcasting Corporation.
Son-in-law of late Motoda Hajime (former Communications Minister and Privy Councilor).
