Career
Funei´s pseudonym was Gottan. He came to Japan in 1260 after studying various sects of Buddhism in China. Coming to Kamakura, Funei was received in audience by Shikken (Prime Minister) Tokiyori Hojo and was asked to stay at the Kenchoji Temple. As a great priest, he was admired by many people. In 1263, he went back to China.
