Nuss was the head college football coach for the Alderson–Broaddus Battlers located in Philippi, West Virginia. He held that position for the 1924 season. His coaching record at Alderson–Broaddus was 3 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties.

In his later life, he operated a tire shop and worked in the gas drilling industry. He died in 1986 at the age of 91.
