Background
Futsunushi Mikoto is said to be the son of Iwatsutsuno-o and Iwatsutsunome, who descended from Heaven together with Takemikazuchi to quell rebellious tribes. Later he is said to have advised Okuni- nushi-no-Mikoto (Onamuj l-no-mikoto) at Izumo Province to return confiscated territory to the Imperial descendants. He is deified at the Katori Shrine, Shimoosa (Chiba Prefecture).
