Until 1914 studied at a Moscow tech school. 1915 graduate Alekseycv Military School. 1917 graduate Gatchin Flying School and flying school in England.
December 1914 drafted into Russian Army. 1915-1916 junior officer, company commander in infantry regiment 1917 translator with English Mission at Moscow Centr Depot of Aviation Equipment.
Last rank in Russian Army - lieutenant. August 1918 drafted as reservist into Red Army. 1918-1921 pilot-observer, acting commander, adjutant (chief of staff), 38th.Air Squadron.
1919 arrested by div comissar for suspected treason but released after a telegram from Lenin. 1921 as pilot-observer participated in campaign to crush Antonov Revolt in Tambov Province. 1921-1926 instructor, Red Army Air Force.
1926 transferred to reserve on medical grounds. 1926-1935 worked for Moscow sports organizations.
