Colleague of Doctorate. I. Mendeleyev at Main Chamber of Weights and Measures where he worked from the day of its foundation (1893) to 1921. Under Mendeleyev’s guidance worked on standardization of the arshin and established precise correlation between Russian and metric measurements of length. Secretariat up a time laboratory at Main Chamber of Weights and Measures.
1896, 1906 and 1914 supervised observation of total solar eclipses. In his latter years headed Department of Astronomy, Latin State University.
Membership
Honorary member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1946.
