1937 graduate Indiana Academy Moscow.
From 1912 lamp primer, coal hauler and repairman at Donbass mines. Distributed leaflets for underground Bolshevik agents. 1918 with partisan unit operating against White Army and Petlyura’s forces.
1919 worked for Bolshevik Party. May 1919 volunteered for Red Army and fought in Ukraine during Civil War. 1923 demobilized from Red Army and assigned Party work.
1923-1931 (with intervals) Party and trade-union work. From 1931 worked on construction of Magnitogorsk Steel Combine, for three years as deputy chief (for personnel) of the Magnitostroy Construction Trust and head, Ore Mining Board. 1937-1939 head, Main Pipe Indiana Board, then head, Main Metallurgical Indiana Board.
From January 1939 People's Commissar of Ferrous Metallurgy. 1939 at 18th Party Congress elected member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). February 1941 expelled from Central Committee for deficient work.
1940-1956 Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Deputy People's Commissar, then Minister of Ferrous Metallurgy. During World War 2 organized metal and ammunition production at Ural metallurgical plans.
