Fyodor Kuzmich Sushkov was a Russian sculptor and painter. He performed decorative and sculptural compositions for public buildings in Voronezh. On June 6, 2005, the administration of the Voronezh region awarded him the title "Honorary citizen of Voronezh region."
Background
Fyodor Kuzmich Sushkov was born on March 11, 1923, in the village of Novosoldatka of Ostrogozhsky district, Russian Federation. He was the fourth child and the only boy in the family.
Fyodor's parents were tragically killed. He was brought up by his pious grandfather. In those days, few people knew how to read and write, and his grandfather knew mathematics, literature, history, geography, Arabic, Greek, and Latin. Thanks to this, Fyodor Kuzmich Sushkov developed a craving for knowledge.
Education
Fyodor Kuzmich studied at Voronezh Art school. Later he graduated from Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute.
Fyodor Kuzmich participated in regional, zonal, republican, All-Union, All-Russian, and foreign exhibitions since 1948. He also worked in easel and monumental sculpture. Among his main works, there are Bust of F. Dzerzhinsky (1955), Motherhood (1967), My Sun (1967).
In Voronezh, Fyodor Kuzmich completed the Monument of Glory on Zadonsky highway (1967), the memorial complex on Victory square (1968-1975), and the memorial sign "Pokryshkin's Plane" in the South-Western district (1975).
Fyodor Kuzmich performed decorative and sculptural compositions for public buildings in Voronezh: the House of Culture named after the 50th anniversary of October, the research institute of mechanical engineering, and the research institute of electromechanical engineering. Sushkov's monumental sculptures were installed on the territory of the Voronezh region: the city of Novovoronezh, the village of Verkhny Mamon, and other localities.
Since the 1990s, Fyodor Kuzmich worked primarily in painting, creating a number of works on biblical scenes.
Fyodor Kuzmich was an educated and courageous person who kept his faith in God throughout the entire life. He was an excellent master of sculpture art and respected member of society.
