Moved to Chicago, 1887. In employ of the United States Construction Company until 1888. Then with Peabody, Daniels & Company.
Became secretary and general manager of a saw manufacturing company.
Entered electrical business, 1890, and in 1891 organized firm of Kohler Brothers, of which became sole proprietor in 1910. Director Kohler Aviation Corporation.
Invented and manufactures devices for operating newspaper presses, including magazine reels, known under the name “The Kohler System”.
Married Mary Ward Everett, October 11, 1899. Children: Franklin West., John Bowen.
