In 1972 G. Scott Morris graduated from the Westminster Schools. In 1976 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia. In 1979 he obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University. In 1983 Morris gained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University.
From 1983 to 1986 G. Scott Morris was a founder and director of Crossover Health Clinic for the Homeless in Richmond, Virginia. Since 1987 he has been a founder and chief executive officer of the Church Health Center in Memphis, Tennessee. It is opened to provide quality, affordable healthcare for working, uninsured people, and their families. Morris is an ordained United Methodist minister. He is a columnist for The Commercial Appeal and Church Health Reader.
Morris has published Relief for the Body, Renewal for the Soul (2001), I Am the Lord Who Heals You: Reflections on Healing, Wholeness, and Restoration (2004), Health Care You Can Live With: Discover Wholeness in Body and Spirit (2011). He was also editor of Hope and Healing: Words from the Clergy of a Southern City (2005).
